A GREAT ADOPTION WEEKEND!

BLAZE was adopted this weekend and was going straight to meet

all of his extended family at a family reunion.

His new family has two boys who play soccer, so he has an active life ahead of him!

Adoptions, Adoptions & MORE ADOPTIONS!

A week ago (last Saturday) MAGGIE (one of the walker hound sisters) was adopted at our Tractor Supply Adoption event!  On Friday we saw Maggie with her new daddy at our Petsmart Adoption.  We could easily see that Maggie LOVES her new daddy (who is not the young boy you see in the picture).  We are so happy that Maggie has her FOREVER home!!!

But that's not all....
Today at our Tractor Supply adoption event, both Skye and Eudora found their forever homes too!

Hachi's been adopted!

Hachi captured the hearts of Joni & Clint and has gone to live with them.  I am so happy for Hachi, and hope he gives his new family much happiness too.  Will miss you Hachi, but I know you'll be over for a visit from time to time, so I will look forward to those times ahead!

ANOTHER ADOPTION!

Duncan was adopted last Saturday at the Alabama Pet Food Adoption Clinic!  Many thanks to Marjo for choosing to give Duncan his forever home! 

A NEW ADDITION

STARR came to us this week.  He is supposedly only 9 weeks old from what we were told by the man who brought him to us, but he is a HUGE PUPPY!  Because of his size, we think he probably has Pyrenese or Mastiff in him.

TWO ADOPTIONS LAST WEEK!

We are happy to inform you that Baby, one of the pek/pom puppies; and Sapphire, a boxer mix who had been with the rescue since last May, have both found their forever homes!  And if you look closely at Sapphire, her expression on her face is proof positive that SHE THINKS SHE"S GONE TO HEAVEN!  Enjoy your heaven on earth with your new mom and dad Sapphire!

Today we had an adoption day at Alabama Pet Foods in Pelham. We met several people who shop there. We also had an adoption too! Her name was Daisy, a sweet Peek-Pom puppy. We are looking forward to many more adoption days at this store, great people and good pet food.  Please check it out if you are out shopping for pet food.  Bye for now, more next week. :)

We are so happy that our kennels are finished on the inside and most of the outside runs are too! Yesterday I started installing the ceiling fans in each of them. We have filled all of them so fast, now I have to start on building some more. We are very happy with the progress, also I built a horse stall for a forever sanctuary horse (Joy) that we now have.  She's a joy to be around too!  Bye for now, I'll post some pictures later.

One giant step and the kennels are looking good!

Today we are down to the last 2 kennels.  The power company is out surveying the area to hook up the power. We've had several requests about horses in need of food and shelter.  We're hoping to help after the kennels are done. We did build one horse stall just for emergency stuff. I was hoping to finish the kennels by Christmas but with bad weather and delivery problems we got side tracked. We are off to a great start for the New Year!

Got some good news!

Last week we got the notification that we are in the "waiting for approval" stages of our 501(c)(3) non-profit status.  I'm really excited that the wait is about to be over. Bye for now ....

Jax one step closer to life time sanctuary!

This is Jax, he's on his way to becoming a life time rescue here at the rescue. I asked him if he would like that and this was his expression.  I'm taking it that he likes what I asked him. He will have a couple more hoops to jump through and see where it goes. The love that he expresses is super, you would just have to meet him to see him being himself.  I hope to see him in the agility training, we at the moment are working on the dirt work of the training grounds so the agility toys can be built. Jax! Good Luck!!!!

These fur babies were all at the party, also we had several friends doggies that showed up.  They all ran in the dog park, ate some good food and desserts... looking foward to another party, and next years Christmas party.

It's just a dog!

"From time to time, people tell me,"lighten up, it's just a dog', or "that's a lot of money for just just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent every day, or the costs involved for "just a dog."  Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog", but i did not feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog" and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.  'If you, too, think "it's just a dog" then you probably understand phrases like "just a friend", " just a sunrise", or "just a promise". "Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and the pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that's makes me a better person. Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks, and look longingly to the future. So for me and the folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of that moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and directs my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that's it's not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a  human". So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog",  just smile, because they "just don't understand".

Buffy and Meeko update!

Buffy and Meeko are doing great for being wild dogs. When we first encountered these babies they were very weak and needed special attention. We were called in from the local animal control as what to do with them, they could not go to the shelters because of there temperment and condition. In the beginning there were 3, but due to their health one died that night. I received several bites from Meeko (the black one) but that didn't stop me from making sure they would be safe for days to come.

Present day they are running and playing with several of our other dogs. Buffy will come to you when called, but Meeko is still very timid and shy. We are working with Meeko as much as possible and she's responds every day with love.

Miss Piggytoo has arrived!

Well i guess we now have our first piggy...Miss Piggytoo was surrendered to us due to she's a big ,big baby and she was hard to load and unload  when going places.The sanctuary we are building will house different animals, we will be taking in farm animals from time to time,we are doing this so children can see some of the pets that are every day animals.We will be looking for small miniature animals,like donkeys,horses,goats,we will also have some chickens and turkeys. Miss Piggytoo is staying in the wildlife kennel at the present but will be moved later on into her own place complete with all that piggies need to be happy and we will be finding her a play mate too!

Yea! More stuff completed!

Today was a good day... we have almost all the paint work on the outside finished. I have sprayed 114 gallons of paint so far, if and when it quits raining I will finish in a couple days. Today a huge truck pulled up and we now have all the sheetrock for the upstairs.  Yesterday I finished the paint work in the training arena..., next we do the lighting and then I'm ready to spend some quality time with some of my pack.  I have a border collie (Jax) that will be in training, a german shepard (Anna), a white german shepard (Bubbee), and my fav (Chewie) each one will have a different job.... and several puppies that need guidance.  The pic I posted is a picture of Bubbee.  He's a great therapy dog.  Everyone that meets him loves him.

We also have our nature/riding trails almost finished.  There will be 13 camp sites throughout the trails over looking some beautiful mountain scenes (we are in the foot hills of the smoky mountains). Also under construction are 10 full hookup RV sites. The dog park (20 acres) is all fenced and the trees are manicured and it's looking good! I will have some pics next week of our progress.  Bye for now. :)
